While performing in Winston Salem someone basically asked “can you decorate my party with balloons.” Kris said sure and that’s how it started.
Balloons for anything other than a children’s party or a carnival were such a new concept in 1985 that the curve for changing peoples thoughts about balloons was a steep mountain. But large scale events like decorating Crosby Golf Tournament in 1987 and Sara Lee Company events and then the ACC in 1988 at the Greensboro Coliseum, and the Lexington BBQ festival gave confidence to the community that balloons could be much more than something tied to a string.
The first large scale decorations included a giant octopus for an undersea theme, a 30ft castle for the kids at the Crosby Gold Tournament, giant flying pigs for the Lexington BBQ Festival and a 40ft wall with ACC and basketball centerpieces for the Jefferson Pilot VIP ACC party at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Since then Kris and his family have decorated conventions, toy shows, trade shows, parties in almost 20 states from San Diego to Boston and Chicago to Orlando.
Kris says, “the most satisfying sound is when you stand behind the door as guest first walk into the event and you hear them take that deep breath and go OH WOW, this is amazing.”
Making events look awesome never gets old.
